Mac wouldn't do 'curl's - haha
i got apt-get working on my mac last night, installed wget...still don't know the options like I should. Unix came with 'curl' but i couldn't get that to do what i wanted.
also, im getting a Xbox 360, yay, so my old Xbox gets turned into a L.A.M.P. in the next few weeks. (i.e. gonna be used to host web sites.)

i actually have WordPress working on ApartTogether. i'm trying out virtual hosts on my personal site and hope to have that working within a week. once i get the virtual hosting working i will be moving my blog from here to a wordpress site that I'll host.
things to accomplish:
1. virtual hosting
2. learn/understand CSS
3. complete website design at ApartTogether
4. finish knitting dish cloth

Lost in Netherworld
so my dad is likeing the alternate display ability when watching netflix. my biggest pet peeve with multiple/alternate displays though is Twhirl. I really like Twhirl, but every time i move a Twhirl window to an alternate display and then unplug the alternate display my Twhirl window gets lost in netherworld. so then i have to replug in the display manually move the window and then unplug again. so far i've only noticed this as a problem with Twhirl. I think MacOSX automatically pulls everything else back to the main/home screen, but i suppose doesn't grab Twhirl.

Apple Earbuds
in the middle of making a new set of short earbuds. i'm trying to shorten a pair of apple earbuds, which is way trickier than others. as of now, i'm gonna try to just cut and splice the main strand. will probably use white heat sink to cover it all up when i'm done for aesthetics.

setting up XP Home for web serving.
1. sshd
2. ftpd
3. apache
4. mySQL
5. php
6. phpAdmin
i finally have my XP box running Opensshd so that i can sit around the house working on my laptop, or wherever i happen to be. tonight i've been working on ftp. i ran across cerebus which i think might do it for me, but in order to install it i think i'm gonna have to plug a monitor and keyboard back onto the box.

Tables
right now i am working on the webpage at josh-ubuntu . i'm hoping to put linked images inside some tables (which isn't a problem) and them align the tables around the page (which i can't do).
I sure wish I new how to get tables to sit beside each other.

Flickr
Okay, so i have Flickr working. yay! still i must decide if i'm going to use Mevio or Flickr for photo hosting. tough call.
side note: one of my bigger projects (getting josh's server up and running) is closer to being done. i believe i finally have a dynamic DNS updater working. this means that i shouldn't have to rely on remembering IP address to log in, and anyone can access our webpages as http://josh-ubuntu.doesntexist.com. yay!

photo spot thingy
so i suppose i should get myself a photo spot thingy like flickr or something. add it to the TODO list and find me three friends to help get to the wizard, then i'll get to it.
oh, and as soon as i find that cable that someone else lost that connects my camera to my computer i'll upload pics of the headbuds.

SUCCESS!!!
took a break from project, watched some Stargate SG-1, and some LOST.
i then went back and finally got two lefts to work...haha.
project is accomplished and semi-pretty (no splices to see since i spliced inside the earbud, which is why this thing was hard).
i plan to buy multiple cheap sets of earbuds and shorten them to various lengths to fit whatever need i may have.

who loves short shorts?
so as a side project tonight i decided to [finally] make a set of headphones that are only a foot long. i consistently find myself wishing that my earphones aren't as long as they are. i have an ipod shuffle (new 2nd gen. square one) that i usually clip onto my lapel; but of course that leaves about a million feet of cord dangling down the front of my shirt which then gets tangled into the things i'm working on.
[long story]
anywho, i started by cutting up some old earphones [duh], and then tried to solder the wires back onto the speakers. well, i ended up breaking my soldering iron's tip (the new fangled ColdHeat kind with the cement tip that costs a zillion bucks) {TTI1}.
next idea: just twist the wires together. great idea but i have no wires left on the speaker as i tore them of to solder new ones on {TTI2}. i then cut up another pair of old headphones. with new speakers (with wires on them) i began twisting.
hummmmm, maybe i have to have both speakers hooked up before it'll work; twisting....
still nothing.
INTERNET to the rescue. http://www.headwize.com/faqs.htm told me that i need to burn off the laquer coating covering the wires and preventing the twisting from working.
alcohol + zippo lighter = burnt wires
now i can't remember which wire went were {TTI3}.
as of right now i semi-sorta-almost have the left earbud working, but still not a sound from the right earbud.
total {TTI} count so far is 3.
